Elliot Page’s wife, Emma Portner, ‘so proud’ he came out as transgender.
Emma Portner is praising her partner, Elliot Page, for coming out as a transgender person on Tuesday.
The professional dancer and choreographer reposted Page’s announcement on her Instagram, and said she is “so proud.”
“Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,” Portner, 26, added in the caption. “I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
Page, 33, responded to his wife’s support with two red heart emojis.
Page and Portner tied the knot in January 2018.
The “Juno” star shared on Instagram on Tuesday that he will no longer use the first name Ellen and will use the he/ they pronouns.
“I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey,” he said. “I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.”
