Fate of the Furious‘ Elsa Pataky and Point Break‘s Luke Bracey are set to star in Matthew Reilly’s Interceptor for Netflix.
Avengers star Chris Hemsworth will executive produce the thriller about an Army lieutenant, played by Pataky, using her years of tactical training to save humanity from 16 nuclear missiles launched at the U.S. as a violent coordinated attack simultaneously threatens her remote missile interceptor station.
Production will take place in New South Wales, Australia. Director Reilly, an Australian action-thriller writer, penned the script for Interceptor with Stuart Beattie (Collateral, When the War Began).
“As those people who have read my novels know, I love telling big action stories that are told at a frenetic pace. I wanted to bring that kind of rocket-fast, relentless, high-stakes storytelling to film, and so Interceptor was born. Elsa is just perfect as our lead: a strong, independent and determined woman who, in the face of overwhelming odds, just refuses to give up,” Reilly said in a statement.
The producer credits are shared by Matthew Street and Michael Boughen for Ambience Entertainment, and Beattie. Kathy Morgan, Christopher Mapp, Robert Slaviero and Peter D. Graves will also executive produce.
Pataky is repped by CAA and Morrissey Management. Bracey is repped by CAA, Fourward and Morrissey Management in Australia
