Dr. Dre and Nicole Young have taken big step towards officially being exes.
The estranged couple has asked a California judge to sign off on legally ending their marriage, The Blast reported on Thursday.
They have yet to come to an agreement on how to split up Dre’s $800 million fortune, but once the judge signs they will be legally “single” and free to re-marry while they hash out the financial issues.
Sources told The Blast that Young had no problem with the rapper’s motion to “bifurcate” the status of their divorce in this manner.
The judge is reportedly set to sign off on the agreement in July.
Dre, 56, and Young, 51, were married for 24 years but split up in March 2020. Young alleged that Dre forced her out of their home “on or about April 2,” according to legal docs, and “quickly plotted to secretly transfer their assets, to deny Nicole her equal share.”
Young also accused the hip hop star in court papers of abuse that was so bad she now has “post-traumatic stress syndrome,” though Dre has strongly denied the abuse claims.
Page Six reported in April that three of Dre’s alleged mistresses were ordered to testify in the divorce proceedings.
Dre is paying Young nearly $2 million in monthly temporary spousal support as their blockbuster divorce rages on.
Dre’s battle against Young took a turn last week when a judge ruled that power divorce attorney Laura Wasser, as well as lawyer Howard King, could not continue to represent the Beats CEO.
Dre was “instructed to obtain counsel as soon as possible,” according to a ruling seen by Page Six and filed in LA Court at the time.
