Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show at New York Fashion Week showcased women’s real bodies, in all their glory. “Women are the strongest people on earth,” the singer told E! News. “Our bodies alone are made to do so many different things and they’re designed in so many different, unique ways. It is about time that we celebrate that.” In addition to Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid, Rihanna featured pregnant models, plus-sized women and others whose figures don’t necessarily conform to classic expectations about what a runway model should look like. “If you have the blessing to being life into this world, it should be celebrated as well,” Rihanna said, referencing her inclusion of pregnant women in her lingerie show. Rihanna also had her hairstylist Yusef and makeup artists Priscilla Ono and Hector Espinal create a look that could be customized by each individual model, giving everyone on the catwalk the chance to be themselves. One of the models, Slick Woods, welcomed a son, Saphir, after the show. “You can create life; whatever you want that life to be,”Slick told Elle earlier this year. “The more kids you have paying it forward, the more new ideas there will be. You have to get your army ready.”
