Meghan Markle was once told to remove part of her costume while filming hit television series, Suits.
She was starring as Rachel Zane and had started dating Prince Harry in July 2016.
During filming in Canada, Meghan and the prince did all they could to keep their romance hidden from the media despite Harry visiting his girlfriend several times in Toronto.
But Meghan’s co-stars soon realised she was dating someone very high profile.
Meghan’s on-screen dad, Wendell Pierce, recently spoke about the way she and the rest of the cast tried to hide her relationship with the British royal from prying eyes off-set.
As her character Rachel was nearing the end of her run on the show, she was due to marry on-screen love Mike Ross.
But Meghan’s relationship with Harry was also becoming serious and the actress was advised by producers to remove her on-screen engagement ring one day, in case the watching paparazzi thought Harry had proposed.
“One time, we were doing a scene before they got engaged where she was engaged with Mike [played by Patrick J. Adams] on the show and they said, ‘wait, don’t get out of the car’,” Pierce told KTLA.
“They said, ‘give us the ring because there’s a paparazzi down the street’. And if the photo got out with the ring…”
Pierce also spoke about the moment he knew Meghan’s relationship with Harry was more than just rumours.
“I didn’t think it was happening and then one day, on the set, there was an MI5 guy,” Pierce said.
“There was this MI5 guy on set so I said, ‘well, this must be serious’.”
Meghan ended her run on the show shortly before her engagement to Prince Harry was announced in November, 2017.
Speaking about leaving behind her career as an actress to become a member of the British royal family, Meghan said in her post-engagement interview: “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change… It’s a new chapter.
“And also keep in mind I have been working on my show for seven years. So we’re very, very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series and for me, once we hit the 100 episode marker I thought, ‘You know what? I have I have ticked this box’… I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there.”
