‘Relieved’ Al Roker is back home, updates fans after cancer surgery.
Ever the anchor, Al Roker is offering fans an update on his battle with prostate cancer.
“Relieved to let you all know that my #prostatecancer surgery is done and [I’m] back home,” Roker wrote on Twitter Thursday evening. “[A] big shoutout to everyone at the #josierobertsonsurgerycenter and appreciate all the thoughts and wishes from our viewers and the wonderful care packages from my co-workers. See you all soon.”
The “Today” show co-host, 66, revealed his diagnosis last week on the show and explained that he would be taking time off to undergo surgery.
“It’s a good news-bad news kind of thing,” he explained. “The good news is we caught it early, not great news is that it’s a little aggressive so I’m going to be taking some time off to take care of this.”
Roker immediately received an outpouring of support from both his “Today” show co-stars and fans following the reveal. “We know you will beat this prostate cancer and be back in no time,” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie wrote on social media.
“I’ve got to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, your support, your well wishes,” he said in a video posted to Instagram Nov. 9.
