Behati Prinsloo Talks Battling Postpartum Depression And Returning To The Runway After Welcoming Second Baby
Behati Prinsloo is getting candid about her struggle with postpartum depression in a brand new interview with Net-a-Porter. The model is the mother of two daughters – 2 year old Dusty Rose and Gio Grace, 10 months – with her hubby Adam Levine.
According to the 30 year old woman, after giving birth to their second child, everything felt a lot easier than after the first.
‘After my first baby, I had a bit of postpartum depression and it was difficult to get back to my normal life. But after the second, everything felt much easier; it was easier to work out, breastfeeding was also easier. Nobody pressured me to return to work, not even Victoria’s Secret, even though I was under contract – they never asked me when I was going to be back,’ Behati shared.
She also revealed that she really enjoyed being pregnant the first time – just doing nothing after 15 years of modeling felt nice – and so, while carrying her second, she just repeated the experience.
But still, just eight months after welcoming baby Gio, Behati returned to the runway.
‘I felt empowered. I was like, ‘I can DO this. I have two kids.’ I loved being pregnant, and I also enjoyed getting back to work. I am finally enjoying getting dressed again. I was pregnant and then breastfeeding for so long that I was literally living in yoga pants.’
It was time for her to wear jeans and a T-shirt again! It may not sound like dressing up, but for a mother of two born so soon one after the other, it was a big change.
Behati said that Adam buys her a lot of ‘crazy sneakers’ since she feels like she’s too tall for heels and doesn’t wear them on a day to day basis because they make her uncomfortable.
