Ed Sheeran’s wife Cherry Seaborn gives birth: Star welcomes first child and reveals sweet name
Ed Sheeran has revealed his wife Cherry Seaborn has given birth to their first child together.
The 29 year old took to his Instagram feed to make the happy announcement by sharing a sweet photo of a blue, green and brown blanket with a pair of tiny black socks sitting on top.
In the caption, the Shape Of You hitmaker explained that he and his 28 year old other half, who has reportedly been granted unlimited maternity leave from work, are “completely in love” with their baby girl.
“Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you…” he started.
The star then revealed the name they’ve chosen to give their little daughter as he continued: “Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time.”
Ed, who shares a £19.8million home with Cherry and his newborn, added: “Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”.
Thousands of his 31.3million followers were quick to offer him congratulations as one person wrote: “Omg congratulations!!! I pray your wife and baby are perfectly well and healthy god bless you and your new precious little girl Ed!! All our best!!”. [sic]
Another said: “Awwww wonderful news huge congratulations to you both,” [sic] followed by a pink heart emoji.
While a third added: “Aww love to baby Lyra,” [sic] with a crying emoji, two black heart emoijs and a red heart emoji.
The singer announced he would be taking a break form music last Christmas, after he spent two-and-a-half years touring across the world.
And a friend later claimed the married couple decided to put Ed’s free time to use – by starting a family. A source recently told The Sun Online: “Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low key.
“Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.
“They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.
“It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival.”
