Billie Eilish confirms she has a new song set to drop in November… ahead of much-anticipated documentary on her debut album and meteoric rise
Billie Eilish fans can rejoice: the pop star has new music coming ahead of the release of the much-anticipated documentary chronicling her debut album and meteoric rise to the top of the music charts.
The 18-year-old star confirmed she has a new song during a Q-and-A session on her Instagram Stories over the weekend.
During the exchange, one fan asked her, ‘NEW SONG?’ for which she responded ‘November’, in a reference to the scheduled release date.
Wanting to get a sense and feel of the new song, another fans requested that Eilish ‘give us a color that matches the song coming in November’.
The singer-songwriter wasted little time in posting an orange-brown autumn color as the backdrop of the asked question
Exactly what that traditional autumn shade represents in context to a song is left up to each and every one us to interpret, which is more than likely what an artist such as Eilish would want with any artistic expression.
The new track will be Eilish’s third to be released in 2020.
She and her brother/collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, dropped the single My Future on July 30.
The moody and eventually uptempo R&B-based ballad was inspired by Eilish being alone in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. It debuted at number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming her third top 10 hit in the United States and her highest debut on the chart.
In February, Eilish (born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell) dropped the theme song to the upcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die, which went on to top the British official charts, giving her first number on single in the UK.
In the United States, No Time to Die debuted and peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
When it coms to a new full-length studio album from Eilish: fans will have to practice some patience.
In an interview with Australian newspaper The Herald Sun, Finneas revealed the album won’t be released until his sister can safely tour and that he didn’t want it to be ‘a bummer COVID record’.
‘I have a desperate desire not to release them [Eilish album and solo album] during COVID-19. It’s the vaccine record! I want it to be the album everyone’s out dancing in the streets to,’ he added.
Back in January Eilish gave her fans an update and confessed to iHeart Radio that it was not likely to be released in 2020.
Fans will be able to get a healthy dose of music’s new powerhouse pop sensation in the upcoming film, Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry.
The documentary, which has been in the works for more than two years, is slated to premiere in theaters and on AppleTV+ in February 2021.
Cameras documented the Los Angeles native’s efforts that went into the release of her 2019 debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. It went on to sweep the Grammys, winning her the trophies for Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album.
