Pink Postpones Sydney Show Due to Illness

Pink is battling with an upper respiratory infection and will miss the first Sydney date on her Australian tour.

On doctor’s orders, the U.S. pop star will postpone her show this Friday night (Aug. 3) at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, according to Live Nation, producer of the Australian leg of her Beautiful Trauma tour Down Under.

The concerts giant is working to reschedule the concert, and at this stage all other performances will go ahead as planned, including her show this Saturday night at the same venue.

Pink reached out to her fans on Twitter, first with an apology and then with a request. “Sydney friends: does anyone have a favorite place that makes wellness shots and fresh juices for when I get there? Thanks in advance. And how do we feel about Neti- pots. They scare me,” she tweeted.

Pink’s latest tour of these parts is another blockbuster. Kicking off July 3 at Perth Arena, the U.S. pop star is slated to play 42 shows, including 11 shows in Melbourne, nine in Sydney, seven in Brisbane, four each in Adelaide and Perth, and seven in New Zealand.

The Grammy-winner’s visits to Australia are legendary. On her last trek here, for 2013’s The Truth About Love Tour, Pink performed 46 dates and sold more than 600,000 tickets, a feat which stands as the biggest selling tour by a solo female artist in Australia, according to LN, out-selling treks by Taylor Swift (Frontier Touring) and Adele (LN).

Her Funhouse run of 2009 criss-crossed the country for 58 arena dates, and also shifted more than 600,000 tickets. Pink’s is so adored Down Under, she has her own ladies’ bathroom (decorated, of course, in pink) at door 6 of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, a thank-you from the venue’s operators for her 11 shows there. Both treks were organized by Michael Coppel, now chairman of Live Nation Australasia.

Her latest, chart-topping album Beautiful Trauma (Sony Music) is four-times platinum certified (280,000 combined units) in Australia.
