Craig Conover: Filming ‘Southern Charm’ during COVID-19 was interesting

Craig Conover is certain this season of “Southern Charm” will be unique.

Conover, 31, teased to Page Six that the upcoming season is “very different” because the cast shot during the coronavirus pandemic with some new faces after a cast shakeup.

“It was interesting to be part of an industry that has never really slowed or shut down production whether it’s scripted, unscripted, all different facets of productions all came to a standstill,” he told us of his experience filming, while promoting his Sewing Down South x Thomasville collection. “And I have some friends that are in the scripted world and they were like, ‘What are you guys doing?’ And I was like, ‘What are you guys doing?’ And, you know, no one knew what was going to happen. So that was interesting, that kind of everyone [was] on the same playing field.”

As for the season overall, “I think it is exciting in a way that, you know, it’s still ‘Southern Charm’ how you guys know it, but it’s something new and different again, which I feel like every year somehow with our group of friends, just there’s something a little wild and crazy and different.”

“Southern Charm” premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo with Conover alongside familiar faces Kathryn Dennis, Austen Kroll, Shep Rose and Madison LeCroy. John Pringle and Leva Bonaparte are joining the cast this season.

Page Six reported that Cameron Eubanks left the series in May after Dennis allegedly started a rumor that her husband, Jason Wimberly, was cheating on her. She adamantly denied that her husband had been unfaithful, and her co-stars Naomie Olindo and Chelsea Meissner left the show as well in support of her.

Olindo explained in July, “Personally I feel like I walked away at a time that was right for me and that’s how Cam and Chelsea feel too and you know other people that aren’t ready to walk away and want to keep doing it, that’s their prerogative and I’m very supportive of that. I still love most of the people on there.”

Eliza Limehouse also left the cast in August and is expecting her first child.
