Justin Bieber gets emotional, thanks Hailey Bieber and Scooter Braun for helping him survive dark times

Justin Bieber was an open book of emotions as he introduced his forthcoming album to listeners at Village Recorders in Los Angeles ahead of the Grammy Awards this week. Referencing the depression he’s wrestled with since early adulthood and how his music career was impacted by it, the singer marveled, “I don’t even think I should be alive never mind thrive,” according to Variety. By the time he thanked his manager Scooter Braun, telling him, “you walked with me through a lot of s—-,” he’d lost his fight to keep from crying. Sounding like he still had some demons to work out, Justin went on to tell the crowd of “a couple hundred” that he’s “grown up in the industry” but has also been “hurt by the industry” and those who work in it. Later, the singer got religious, thanking God and telling his audience, “there’s power in weakness,” something he said is reflected in his music. “Thank you for loving me at my worst,” said Justin before turning his attention to his wife Hailey Bieber. “I love you with all my heart … and I’m so proud of us,” he told her. Hailey plays a featured role in Justin’s new multipart YouTube series, “Seasons,” which premieres Jan. 27. He has not yet announced the release date or name of the new album, but Variety and Billboard both reported it leans more heavily on R&B elements than previous releases. Other outlets have confirmed guests include Travis Scott, Post Malone and Kehlani.
