Nina Dobrev Says She Still Has To ‘Fight’ For Roles In Hollywood, Talks Rob Ford Movie
Despite leading the fan-favourite TV series “The Vampire Diaries” for six seasons and with a number of
film roles under her belt, Nina Dobrev says she still has to fight for acting gigs.
When asked if she’d consider doing a Marvel movie, the Toronto-raised actress says she would love to
sign on, revealing she’s auditioned for parts in the past.
“I’ve auditioned for quite a few of them. I still have to fight for roles,” she tells Story + Rain.
Dobrev, who returns to the small screen in the sitcom “Fam”, will also be seen in cinemas in the movie
“Run This Town.” Based on the real-life events surrounding Toronto’s controversial mayor, the late Rob Ford,
Dobrev says she had the opportunity to play a strong female lead in the film.
“It’s dynamic and fast-paced and has comedic flair,” she says of the film that left her “pleasantly surprised” after she watched it for the first time at SXSW last month. “My character is a strong woman who has an experience in the workplace and grapples with how to deal with it. These events happened over 7 years ago; at the time there wasn’t an allegiance of woman banding together that could provide support.”
