Mark Hamill Confesses He Advised Arnold Schwarzenegger To ‘Lose The Accent And Change His Name’
Mark Hamill took to social media today to share a ‘#TrueStory’ most people had no way of knowing. According to the actor, when Arnold Schwarzenegger was starting out in Hollywood, he told him he should lose the accent and change his last name if he wanted to be successful which, looking back, was not the best advice.
Hamill tweeted: ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger asked me for some advice when he was just starting out. I told him to lose the accent for a wider range of roles and change his last name as no one could pronounce it. He did the opposite and became one of the biggest stars EVER?#TrueStory.’
It looks like Arnold has no hard feeling as he replied to the Star Wars actor saying: ‘Your advice was absolutely correct under any normal circumstances, and those were the rules back then. I just happen to be a rule-breaker.’
But the piece of advice he gave to Schwarzenegger is not the only thing the star regrets.
He previously told ET that his choice of words about The Last Jedi were not the best either.
As fans of the cult classic may be aware, Hamill initially slammed director Rian Johnson’s choices for Luke Skywalker.
Later on, however, he made it very clear that he regretted his early judgment of the latest installment in the Star Wars saga.
‘That should remain in the rehearsal process. That should just be between the screenwriter and the director, and I regret saying that out loud. I said it before I even saw the whole movie put together,’ Hamill told the outlet.
