The Big Bang Theory has just broken a major TV record by outlasting bar comedy Cheers.
Production began on the show’s 276th episode on Wednesday (27Mar19) –
one more than Cheers – making it the longest-running multi-camera sitcom ever.
Cast and crew celebrated on set after a table read with cupcakes to honour the milestone.
Episode 276 will air in May (19) as one of the final episodes of the series.
The longest-running live-action sitcom of any kind is The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,
which ran for 435 episodes from 1952 to 1966, while The Simpsons has the longest run, with 657 episodes.
The Big Bang Theory’s one-hour series finale will air on 16 May (19).
