Would-be burglar near Taylor Swift’s home charged with possession of a prohibited weapon
The Rhode Island mansion Taylor Swift bought in 2013 for a reported $17 million was again the site of an uninvited visit from a stranger. According to The Westerly Sun, a 32-year-old Iowa resident who was already being looked out for the singer’s security because of previous behavior was charged with possession of burglary tools and possession of a prohibited weapon other than a firearm last week (via The Blast). “He has a history — security guards at the home told us that he was already on a watch list because there were concerns he could pose a threat …,” said Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey. “It is our understanding that he may have visited other properties belonging to Taylor Swift in the past.” Police got involved after multiple Rhode Island locals reported his allegedly suspicious appearance near a boat yard by Taylor’s home. He later told police he’d taken a train to the location from New York City and wanted to “catch up with Taylor Swift.”
