Meghan Markle and Prince Harry secretly deliver food parcels to vulnerable in Los Angeles

A man was shocked to open his door and discover Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wearing masks outside.

Dan Tyrell responded to a call at his apartment building in West Hollywood expecting it to be from Project Angel Food, a Los Angeles based non-profit which provides meals for those too ill to cook for themselves.

What he was not expecting was to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex standing just beyond the threshold.

“They had masks on, and they were dressed down with jeans, but very nice jeans,” Dan told Wehoville.

“I thought that tall red-headed guy looked pretty familiar, and that girl was very pretty. Then I saw the large black SUVs with the security guards behind them.”

He added: “If they had given me the heads up, I would have worn my tiara.”

Harry and Meghan had spent the morning distributing supplies for Project Angel Food to people in West Hollywood.

The charity, which helps those with illnesses such as AIDS, cancer and kidney failure, has continued its work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The people it typically helps often have compromised immune systems, which means they’re more likely to be affected by the coronavirus.

Richard Ayoub, Project Angel Food’s executive director, said he was delighted at Harry and Meghan’s offer to help, which he hadn’t intended to make public.

He said that the royal couple had lent some of their time in a bid to plug the volunteer shortfall caused by the pandemic.

Over the Easter weekend Prince Harry offered a glimpse into his family life with son Archie in lockdown during a video call to the UK.

He had dropped in on two British families with vulnerable children via video call from California over Easter, praising their “super parents”, reports Sky News.

The Duke of Sussex said he felt almost guilty about how much “family time” he was having with his 11-month-old son and wife Meghan in their new LA home.

He described “rolling around in hysterics”, adding “you’ve got to celebrate these moments” before you’re called away with work.

Charity WellChild, of which the duke has been a patron since 2007, has said some are finding it difficult to be classified as vulnerable as the crisis puts extra strain on their lives.
