Did Whiskey Cavalier ever have a chance at a second season? Recently, ABC boss Karey Burke explained why the network briefly reconsidered the TV show’s cancellation, TVLinereports.
The drama series centers on FBI Agent Will Chase (Scott Foley), codename: “Whiskey Cavalier” and CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan), codename: “Fiery Tribune.” Although they start off as rivals, they’re soon assigned to a joint-agency task force to root out corruption and crime and save the world. The cast also includes Ana Ortiz, Tyler James Williams, Vir Das, and Josh Hopkins.
Earlier this year, ABC cancelled Whiskey Cavalier after one season only to reconsider the decision before ultimately canceling the series. Speaking to TVLine, ABC boss Karey Burke said the network considered bringing the show back because of an email written by executive producer Bill Lawrence:
He was just so deeply passionate about it. He put his heart and soul into it. And he just asked us to take one last look. And we really did.”
However, Burke said a second season of Whiskey Cavalier was just to difficult to justify given the show’s low ratings:
It was tough [to justify] financially [and] ratings-wise. We ultimately just decided to bet on the future.”
What do you think? Have you seen Whiskey Cavalier? Would you have watched a second season?
