In case you were wondering, yes, Taylor Swift is aware of how bizarre that “Cats” trailer looks. In fact, she’s aware Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the musical, which hits theaters Dec. 20, is odd in many ways — and she’s here for it. “I really had an amazing time with ‘Cats,'” Taylor says in British Vogue’s December cover feature. “I think I loved the weirdness of it. I loved how I felt I’d never get another opportunity to be like this in my life.” Taylor, who teamed up with musical icon Andrew Lloyd Webber to co-write the song “Beautiful Ghosts” for the film, also peripherally references the tug-of-war she’s been having with Big Machine Records after it sold her older music to Scooter Braun, whom she says has bullied her for years. “I think [writing] is really important — also from the side of ownership over what you do and make,” she explains. “Even if you aren’t a natural writer, you should try to involve yourself in the messages you’re sending.”
