This ‘Little Women’ Scene Is Just Like Taylor Swift’s Battle Over Her Music, Emma Watson Says

In a red carpet interview with Variety at the film’s NYC premiere, Watson connected how March’s critical moment of asking for the copyright to her debut novel in the film resembles the major pop star’s battle with Big Machine Label Group and Scooter Braun to own the masters of her songs.

“It’s about believing in yourself and knowing your worth and owning your worth,” Watson said. “Right now, the Taylor Swift situation is a great example of, you know, you’re young and you’re talented and someone wants to buy your work, but having ownership at the end of the day is super, super important because you don’t know what someone’s going to decide to do with that.”

The 29-year-old British actress also compared the game Monopoly to Swift’s struggle with former Big Machine head Scott Borchetta and his new partner Braun.

“I think people undervalue ownership,” Watson said. “You know when you play Monopoly and you have a decision and you want to own something or get cash fast. The way to win Monopoly, everyone, is to own stuff. I’m just saying.”
