Demi Lovato thanks fans for supporting her after an ‘unbelievable,’ ’emotional’ return to the stage

Demi Lovato used the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Jan, 26, to launch a comeback after a drug overdose nearly killed her in 2018 — and what a comeback it was. After a brief pause to start her single “Anyone” over again, she belted out a stunning rendition of the song, a ballad about being vulnerable and feeling helpless that she’s said she wrote four days before she overdosed. “I tried to talk to my piano, I tried to talk to my guitar,” Demi sang. “Talked to my imagination / Confided into alcohol / I tried and tried and tried some more / Told secrets ’til my voice was sore.” After admitting that even though she has “a hundred million stories / and a hundred million songs” to share, “I feel stupid when I sing,” before returning to the chorus, “Nobody’s listening to me.” Demi was rewarded with a standing ovation by the audience, many of whom were visibly moved. Later, she acknowledged on Instagram that she was moved, herself. “What an unbelievable night,” she wrote. “My first time back on stage in almost 2 years. So emotional for me. Thank you all for the love, support and for sharing this moment with me. I love you all. 💗.” Demi returns to the stage next on Feb. 2, when she’s set to perform at the Super Bowl.
