Sophie Turner reveals she actually ‘hated’ the Jonas Brothers before marrying Joe Jonas
It may be surprising considering she’s married to Joe Jonas, but Sophie Turner actually hated his band, the Jonas Brothers, before the couple formed a relationship
In an interview with Elle Tuesday, the “Game of Thrones” actress, 24, revealed she and her friends “were not Jonas Brothers fans.
“There was this band in the UK called Busted,” she explained. “They had a hit called ‘Year 3000.’ It was amazing, and we were huge Busted fans. Then the Jonas Brothers covered the song and made it massive. And Busted broke up. We thought it was all the Jonas Brothers’ fault. So we hated them
Then, as fate would have it, a movie producer and Joe’s agent, on different occasions, mentioned that she should meet Joe
“(Joe’s agent) was like, ‘You remind me of one of my clients. I bet you two would really hit it off.’ ” she recalled
As their modern love story goes, Joe later DM’ed her while touring in the UK and they met up for drinks
“I expected him to show up with security and everything. I thought, ‘He’s gonna be such a (expletive),’ ” she recalled. “He didn’t bring security. He brought a friend, and they drank just as hard as the rest of us. I remember the two of us spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we just found a space far in the corner and we just talked. We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I was, like, not bored. It wasn’t contrived. It wasn’t small talk – it was just so easy. And soon we were, like, inseparable.
The pair got engaged a year after they started dating, having two ceremonies: one in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator and a more formal ceremony in the South of France
Turner said marriage has given her an “incredible sense of security.”
“Just the word husband and the word wife—it just solidifies the relationship. I love being married. I think it’s wonderful. I’m sure we’ll have our hiccups and our different things. But right now, it’s like the security and the safety is everything,” she said
She also said her sister-in-laws, Nick’s wife Priyanka and Kevin’s wife Danielle, are another perk of being part of his family
“It’s also nice to have built-in girlfriends who are actually really cool, who I can hang out with and we can really talk to each other about, like, how crazy the boys’ lives are,” she said. “We can relate on so many different levels. It’s like, thank God, because you never know (about your in-laws).
