Michael Buble gets emotional recounting son’s harrowing battle with liver cancer
Michael Buble is back onstage and getting ready to release a new album
next month after he and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, tackled the most difficult challenge they ever imagined facing.
Their eldest son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016. “It sucks. It still sucks,”
the 43-year-old singer said on Australia’s “Today Show” (via Page Six) this week.
“What we went through was the worst possible thing that you could hear as a parent,
and as maybe a human being. I much rather would have it have been me.
Many times I wish that it had been.” As his eyes welled up, Michael said he and Luisana often
“wished we didn’t wake up” during the time when Noah was undergoing testing and treatment.
Ultimately, though, he said he’s seeing life in a new way because of Noah’s battle.
“I’ve been through a lot,” Michael said. “One of the things about going through
something that my family has been through is that it gives you great perspective and
one of those points of perceptive is that it really shows you to appreciate the good things.
” Michael’s first performance since he and Luisana put their work on hold in 2016 was
an emotional but well received show in London in July. His new album, “Love (Deluxe Edition),” is due out Nov. 16.
