Angelina Jolie is back in UNHCR special envoy mode this week, visiting the largest refugee settlement in the world as the United Nations works to secure nearly $1 billion to help Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Since August 2017, the Rohingya people have been pouring into Bangladesh seeking safety from the Myanmar military, which has been accused of committing “brutal” human rights violations against them, according to ABC. “The people responsible for human rights violations must be held accountable for their actions,” Angelina said in a speech during the trip, her first to Bangladesh. “While UNHCR is ready to support efforts to improve conditions, there have been very little progress on the ground. The Rohingya cannot return to Myanmar at this time,” she added.
