Netflix Has Renewed Elite for a Season 3—Here’s What We Know

Season 2 premiered on September 6—but a third installment is already in the works.

  • Season 2 of Netflix’s Elite was just released on September 6. The streaming giant has confirmed to Variety that the show was renewed for season 3.
  • In season 1, Marina was murdered by a fellow classmate—and in season 2, viewers will learn what happens after her death…while dealing with the consequences of Samuel’s disappearance.
  • Here’s what we predict will happen in season 3 based on (spoilers!) what we’ve seen in season 2 of Elite.

It’s official: Netflix’s Elite is coming back for a third season.

Diego Avalos, the director of Netflix Originals in Spanish, made the announcement during a press conference on August 29. Based on what series creators Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona had to say about the direction of season 2, it’s clear that season 3 will be bigger and better.

“I don’t know how much more money the series cost [this season], but I have the sense the series achieved a leap in quality and, also, that I made the series I wanted to, and that’s a rare sensation,” Montero said.

Season 1 of Elite, according to Variety, was watched by over 20 million household accounts back in October 2018, its first month of release.

Season 2 of the show premiered on September 6 and deals with the aftermath of Marina’s death—while also introducing us to a whole new set of cast members. Given that the tag line for season 2 is “Lies tie us together. Lies tear us apart,” we can only imagine what direction season 3 will go in.

Now that season 2 is here, let’s breakdown what we can expect from season 3 of Elite.

What’s the release date of Elite season 3?

While we know for sure with this new announcement that there will be a season 3, there is no official word yet on when season 3 of Elite will return. But if previous Netflix original seasons are any indication, chances are it will return in fall 2020: Season 1 dropped on October 5, 2018, and season 2 premiered on September 6, 2019.

Who will be in Elite season 3?

If you look at the photo above from the season 2 premiere, you’ll see a lot of familiar faces: Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Christian (Miguel Herrán), Nano (Jaime Lorente Lopez), Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau), Lu (Danna Paola), Nadia (Mina El Hammani), Carla (Ester Expósito), Polo (Álvaro Rico), Ander (Arón Piper), and Omar (Omar Ayuso). They are all set to return for the third season along with new cast members: Cayetana (Georgina Amoros), Rebeca (Claudia Salas), and Valerio (Jorge Lopez).
