Dennis Quaid is taking the initiative to pay more in child support.
It was a busy year in Hollywood for Quaid and he wants his child support payments to reflect that. The actor filed court documents seeking to increase his child support payments to ex-wife Kimberly Buffington, according to TMZ.
Currently, he is paying $13,750 each month to help support his children — Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, both 12. The agreement includes a kicker should Quaid earn more than $1.3 million per year. He earned approximately $550,000 a month in 2019, which comes to more than $6 million in the last 12 months.
The 2018 agreement included a clause calling for Quaid to pay a percentage based on his current earnings on top of the base amount. Quaid wants to determine what that amount is and “make a below-guideline child support order based on the reasonable needs of Thomas and Zoe.”
Quaid and Buffington were married for 14 years. They tied the knot in 2004. Quaid also shares a son, Jack Quaid, 27, with Meg Ryan. He and Ryan were married for 10 years.
