Katy Perry Responds To Rumours That Jennifer Aniston Will Be Her Baby’s Godmother
While we’re sure Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s future daughter will certainly grow up with everything she needs and wants – an abundance of opportunities, great holidays and inheriting some serious talent – Jennifer Aniston as a godmother is not something she is going to be blessed with.
Allow us to explain.
Earlier this month, rumours circulated online that Perry and Bloom – who are expecting their first child together and have confirmed it will be a girl – were considering the Friends star as a godmother.
While we have no doubt that Aniston would be a worthy – and endlessly entertaining – choice (the 51-year-old is godmother to Courteney Cox’s daughter Coco Arquette after all) the rumour did seem sort of random.
And now, Perry has confirmed it was.
Asked about the circulating stories on Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O, the ‘California Girl’ singer explained how the rumours spread so wide that Aniston even got in touch.
‘She texted us, because we are friendly with her and Orlando is one of her good friends, and we were like, “Wow! This is a wild rumour.”
‘I mean, God knows, she’s, you know, with her, she’s had everything said about her. But I guess this is a fun rumour. But no, we have no idea where it came from. But, you know, that is the product of the media and the internet. You should definitely believe everything that you read,’ the star joked.
Bloom is already a father, and Perry a stepmother, to his nine-year-old son Finn from his marriage to model Miranda Kerr.
Kerr has since welcomed two more sons, Hart born in 2018 and Myles in 2019 with husband Evan Spiegel, the co-founder of Snapchat. The Australian model appears to still be on very good terms with Bloom and also Perry, who has publicly supported Kerr by attending events for her skincare brand Kora.
